So, combat operations in Iraq end today. Thousands of troops are being sent home along with their equipment but the president says there is still work to be done. Yes, thank you chimp Nero.
What has been accomplished? Today marks in a way the end of the Iraq war and is really only an occupation from here on out. The insurgency remains strong, they show no signs of going away. A win over the "evil doer" Saddam Hussein was made by the great crusader, former United States president Bushwhacker. He was eventually executed.
Do the ends justify the means? The means were mis-leading the world in to getting involved by convincing them Saddam Hussein had a "weapon of mass-destruction" (Bush was that weapon if you ask me). The Central Intelligence Agency publicly said there was "no link" between Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden. Those "weapons of mass-destruction" haven't been found, did anyone notice?
The theory was that the war would pay for itself from the abundance of oil. I believe those reserves have been raped by the United States, by oil loving former president Dubya and who knows? The financial cost could be covered.
The coalition forces are now letting Iraqi forces defend their own country. I am amused when I hear about Iraqi personnel turning bad, could that be a growing threat?
The issue is not the insurgency out-numbering the allies, are you kidding me? The issue is whether this whole grand master plan of spreading goodwill and democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan is really going to work.
Resources are being shifted from Iraq to Afghanistan. The war on terrorism continues. It will probably get worse before it gets better thanks to the new world order.
